Trust Stamp to Provide DMV Data Verification for IDetect
AI identity solutions provider Trust Stamp has signed a contract with security firm IDetect. Under the agreement, Trust Stamp will provide IDetect with access to the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) driver's license data verification service. The service will be used for high-volume identity verification and security applications.
- The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) is a nonprofit organization that provides a unified system for collecting information from motor vehicle and law enforcement agencies across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and parts of Canada. Its Driver's License Data Verification (DLDV) service allows for real-time checking of driver's license data against the records of the issuing DMV. - The AAMVA's DLDV service is designed to combat the fraudulent use of proof-of-identity documents by moving beyond visual inspection to verify that the information on an ID matches the government's database. This helps to identify sophisticated forgeries that might otherwise pass a simple visual check. - Trust Stamp is a global provider of AI-powered identity verification services used in sectors such as banking, finance, government, and healthcare. Their technology includes biometric authentication, document validation, and data tokenization to reduce fraud and protect privacy. - IDetect is an Australian-owned security company that offers a range of services including CCTV, intruder detection, AI security technologies, and security guards for residential, construction, and commercial properties. - The partnership enhances IDetect's capabilities from document authentication to comprehensive data verification, allowing clients in industries like hospitality, gaming, and government to confirm license data against official records. - The AAMVA's data verification service is not available for all U.S. states. As of February 2025, several jurisdictions including California, New York, and Pennsylvania were not covered by the service. - The AAMVA also maintains the Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS), which is a component of the National Driver Register. This system points jurisdictions to the state where a driver's full history is stored to prevent individuals with suspended or revoked licenses from obtaining a new one in a different state. - Trust Stamp's technology can create "tokenized identities" from biometric data, a method that enhances privacy and security by not needing to store the actual biometric information. The company has also developed solutions specifically to detect and mitigate deep-fakes.
