Axel Springer Acquires Bisnow
German media giant Axel Springer has acquired Bisnow, a major U.S.-based commercial real estate media and events company. The deal marks a significant consolidation in the B2B media landscape, giving Axel Springer a major foothold in the lucrative real estate information sector.
The acquisition folds Bisnow into a newly formed Brew Media Group, operating alongside the business-focused newsletter company Morning Brew. Robert Dippell, who was named CEO of Morning Brew in February 2025, will lead the new group as CEO. Both Bisnow and Morning Brew will continue to operate as separate, independent companies under this new structure. This move is part of a broader strategy by Axel Springer to invest in and grow its portfolio of digital B2B media and community-focused event businesses. The German media giant has a history of acquiring and scaling digital journalism companies, including its majority-to-sole ownership of Morning Brew, which it fully acquired in February 2025. The deal follows a major corporate restructuring at Axel Springer. In late 2024, the company announced a €13.5 billion deal to separate its media assets, like Politico and Business Insider, from its digital classifieds businesses, such as its real estate advertising group, Aviv. This has positioned Axel Springer as a debt-free, privately owned media company with a focus on digital journalism and a war chest for acquisitions. Bisnow itself was previously acquired by the private equity firm The Wicks Group in 2016. Founded in 2005, the company has grown into a significant player in the commercial real estate sector, hosting hundreds of events annually and reaching a large executive audience through its newsletters.
