Zanesville Community to Hold 'CHAIR-ity' Auction
The Eastside Community in Zanesville, Ohio, is hosting a "CHAIR-ity" auction and raffle. The event is designed to raise funds for local community development projects within the Eastside neighborhood.
- The "CHAIR-ity" auction is the largest annual fundraiser for the Eastside Community Ministry (ECM), which has been serving the Zanesville community since 1958. - This year's event will take place from February 26-28, 2026, at the Colony Square Mall and will feature an online auction component in addition to a raffle and silent auction. - The auction features creatively themed chairs donated by local businesses and individuals, often bundled with valuable incentives like gift cards, vacation packages, or electronics. - Past auction items have included everything from a child's recliner paired with books and gift cards to an outdoor chaise lounge bundled with a digital billboard package valued at over $1,000. - The Eastside Community Ministry provides essential services to low-income residents, including an emergency food pantry, a clothing bank, an after-school program for students in grades K-12, and emergency financial assistance for utilities and rent. - Proceeds from the auction directly support these programs and the general operations of the ministry, which in 2024 received grants from foundations like the J William and Mary Straker Charitable Foundation and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. - The ministry's new "Eastside's Essentials" building, a project first envisioned in 2019, had its groundbreaking in July 2023 and is now open, expanding the organization's ability to serve those in need.
