Cardi B Hits Billion Streams
Cardi B's breakout single "Bodak Yellow" surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify, making it her fifth song to cross this threshold. The milestone underscores Cardi B's sustained digital dominance and reinforces her position among hip-hop's streaming elite. The achievement comes as streaming continues to drive music industry success and artist revenue.
Released on June 16, 2017, "Bodak Yellow" was Cardi B's major-label debut single. The track's title is a reference to rapper Kodak Black, whose song "No Flockin" inspired its flow. The song was the lead single from her debut album, "Invasion of Privacy." The single steadily climbed the charts, debuting at number 85 on the Billboard Hot 100 and eventually reaching the top spot for three consecutive weeks. This achievement made Cardi B the second female rapper to top the Hot 100 with a solo song, following Lauryn Hill in 1998. In 2021, "Bodak Yellow" was certified Diamond by the RIAA, making her the first female rapper to have a solo single achieve this milestone. "Bodak Yellow" received two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. It also took home Single of the Year at the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards and Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Song at the 2018 American Music Awards. Cardi B's other tracks to have surpassed the one billion stream mark on Spotify include "I Like It" with Bad Bunny and J Balvin, "WAP" featuring Megan Thee Stallion, her collaboration with Maroon 5 on "Girls Like You," and her feature on DJ Snake's "Taki Taki." This latest streaming achievement for "Bodak Yellow" comes as Cardi B is reportedly on her "Little Miss Drama Tour" in support of her sophomore album, "Am I The Drama," which was said to have been released in September 2025.
