NetForChoice Launches GPU Cloud in India
NetForChoice has launched "inhosted.ai," a high-performance GPU cloud built in India. The service is aimed at providing scalable AI compute resources for both indie developers and enterprise teams. The expansion of regional cloud infrastructure is intended to democratize access to AI tool building.
- The service launched with an initial capacity to support over 3,000 GPU workloads, utilizing a mix of NVIDIA's high-performance H100, A100, and H200 GPUs. This hardware is specifically designed to accelerate large language model (LLM) training and other compute-intensive AI tasks that are often bottlenecks in creative tool development. - This launch is part of a larger national strategy, the IndiaAI Mission, which is investing over $1 billion to create sovereign AI infrastructure and reduce dependence on international providers. Other major players like Yotta, which is building a 20,000 GPU "Shakti Cloud," and E2E Networks are also contributing to this push for digital self-reliance. - For independent developers, local cloud access circumvents the significant capital expense of purchasing hardware; a single NVIDIA H100 GPU in India can cost between ₹25,00,000 and ₹40,00,000 (approximately $30,000 to $48,000 USD). Cloud rental makes this technology accessible at hourly rates, lowering the barrier to entry for experimentation and scaling. - The availability of diverse, high-performance GPUs on-demand facilitates the creation of complex, multi-tool AI workflows. This allows builders to chain together different specialized models—such as those for image generation, code assistance, and 3D asset creation—into a cohesive pipeline without needing to own and manage the underlying hardware. - Increased access to compute is shaping AI system design, forcing a shift away from inefficient, monolithic models toward more modular and efficient architectures. This trend directly impacts tool builders by encouraging the development of frameworks where AI acts as a "co-creator" rather than just a passive assistant, a concept known as cognitive synergy. - NetForChoice's offering enters a competitive landscape that includes not only local providers but also major international players making significant investments in India. Recently, OpenAI announced a partnership with the Tata Group to develop sovereign AI capabilities and build AI-ready data center capacity within the country.
