UFC Plans $60M White House Event
The UFC is planning a historic $60 million event at the White House, with TKO Group Holdings chief Mark Shapiro confirming the extraordinary production budget. While the fight card and specific date remain unannounced, the event represents the most expensive MMA production ever staged and underscores UFC president Dana White's continued political ties following his support of Donald Trump's 2024 campaign. The spending projection signals both the UFC's ambitions and its blending of sport with high-level American politics.
The event is scheduled for June 14, 2026, a date that coincides with both Flag Day and Donald Trump's 80th birthday. This historic fight card will be the first-ever professional sporting event staged on the South Lawn of the White House. The production is part of the official "America 250" celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The UFC is shouldering the entire cost, ensuring no taxpayer money is used for the spectacle. The $60 million budget dwarfs previous UFC productions, more than doubling the over $20 million spent on "UFC 306" at the Las Vegas Sphere. TKO Group President Mark Shapiro has stated the company will not profit from the event and aims to offset about half the cost through corporate partnerships. Logistical plans include building a temporary octagon and seating on the South Lawn for an exclusive audience of roughly 3,000 to 5,000 guests. There are also plans for a large-scale viewing experience on the nearby National Mall for tens of thousands more fans. The high cost includes significant site-specific expenses, such as an estimated $700,000 just to restore the South Lawn's grass after the event. The unique venue also presents security and infrastructure challenges, with underground tunnels beneath the lawn influencing the limited capacity. The choice of venue highlights the deep-rooted relationship between UFC CEO Dana White and Donald Trump. White has been a vocal supporter, speaking at Republican National Conventions and crediting Trump for providing a venue at the Trump Taj Mahal for an early UFC event when other arenas declined. While no fights have been announced, the spectacle may feature ceremonial weigh-ins at the Lincoln Memorial and a fighter walk-out from the Oval Office to the octagon. The main card is expected to air on Paramount+, the UFC's broadcast partner.
