Tampa Hosts Neighborhood Improvement Expo

The City of Tampa is holding its "Love Our Neighborhoods" expo today, February 28. The free community event is designed to connect residents with city resources and information to help support local community development initiatives.

This annual event, organized by Hillsborough County's Neighborhood Relations team, aims to directly connect residents with county staff and services. The expo provides a platform for community members to learn about upcoming county projects, engage with local leaders, and explore informational exhibits and demonstrations from various departments. The event is part of a broader effort by local governments to support neighborhood-level improvements. Hillsborough County offers a Neighborhood Mini-Grant program, awarding up to $5,000 for resident-led projects that make communities healthier, safer, or more engaged. The application period for the 2026 grants has closed, with the next cycle opening in the fall of 2026 for 2027 projects. The City of Tampa also runs several programs, including the Neighborhood Enhancement Division, which addresses code violations, litter, and illegal dumping to improve quality of life. The city's Community Redevelopment Areas (CRAs) provide financial assistance to property owners for improvements in designated districts. These initiatives complement major capital projects underway across Tampa. An estimated $80 million is being invested in East Tampa to bring affordable housing, a vocational training center, and business spaces by 2027. Additionally, the city is funding a $2 million street improvement project in West Riverside Heights, with construction slated for 2026 to enhance safety and mobility.
