Major League Volleyball Hires First Commish

Major League Volleyball has appointed Jaime Weston as its first-ever Commissioner. The move comes as the professional women's volleyball league enters its third season, signaling a new era of growth and professionalization for the sport in the U.S.

Jaime Weston brings a wealth of experience from major sports and entertainment entities, having spent over 15 years as a marketing executive at the NFL. There, she was instrumental in leading the strategic direction of the NFL brand, which included managing its creative department, fan strategy, and advertising initiatives. Before her recent role as Chief Commercial Officer for USA Volleyball, Weston also held the position of Executive Vice President of Consumer Marketing at Universal Music Group. In this role, she was responsible for developing marketing strategies to expand the global audience for the company's artists. Her appointment comes as Major League Volleyball has seen significant growth, recently surpassing one million fans in attendance. The league now boasts eight teams in major markets and has ownership groups with experience in other professional sports leagues. As commissioner, Weston's initial focus will be on enhancing the on-court and broadcast product, which already has a broad distribution slate including CBS, Roku, Vice, and Ion. She also aims to build strong local fan communities and strengthen the connection between college volleyball and the professional league. The league is poised for further expansion, with three new franchises in Minnesota, Sacramento, and D.C. set to join in 2027, which will bring the total number of teams to eleven. Weston has emphasized that governance, capital discipline, and careful market selection will be crucial for managing this growth.
