Adobe launches AI assistant for Photoshop
Adobe debuted an AI assistant for Photoshop on web and mobile, offering features like generative fill to speed up creative workflows.
The AI assistant, powered by Adobe's Firefly generative AI, allows users to make edits by simply describing what they want, either through text or voice prompts. This natural language interaction simplifies complex tasks and makes advanced tools more accessible. The AI assistant offers two distinct modes: one where it automatically applies edits and another where it guides users through the process, with links to the necessary tools. This caters to both beginners and experienced users, serving as both an automation and learning tool. The public beta includes AI Markup, enabling users to draw directly on the image to specify areas for modification using text prompts. For example, you can circle an area of the sky and ask the AI to add mountains. Until April 9, 2026, paid Photoshop subscribers have unlimited AI generations; after that, it will draw from their plan's generative credits. Free users get 20 free generations to start. Adobe is also integrating AI into other Creative Cloud apps and Microsoft Copilot, signaling a broader push for conversational AI across its ecosystem. This move aims to streamline workflows and challenge traditional software interactions.
