1 Hotel Opens Tokyo Location
Tokyo's high-end hospitality scene has a new addition with the opening of 1 Hotel Tokyo. The property is positioned as a nature-infused urban sanctuary with a focus on sustainability and wellness. Its debut adds to the city's appeal for travelers seeking restorative environments and culinary exploration.
This marks the first Japanese property for 1 Hotels, a brand operated by Starwood Hotels. The hotel occupies the top six floors, 38 through 43, of the Akasaka Trust Tower, offering views of the Imperial Palace gardens and Tokyo Tower. This location is part of the larger Tokyo World Gate Akasaka development, a mixed-use project by Mori Trust. The hotel features 211 rooms, which include 24 suites and three penthouses. The interior design, handled by CRÈME, emphasizes natural and reclaimed materials, incorporating elements like a signature Oya stone wall that echoes the Imperial Palace moat. This commitment to environmental consciousness has earned the hotel a CASBEE S certification, the highest rating for environmental performance in Japan. Dining options include three distinct venues. NiNi, led by Head Chef Nikko Policarpio, who previously worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and with David Chang's Momofuku group, offers a menu that blends French Riviera elegance with Japanese refinement. Other options are Spotted Stone, a craft gin and cocktail bar, and the grab-and-go Neighbors Café. Wellness amenities are centered around the Bamford Wellness Spa, a partnership with Carole Bamford, a proponent of organic and holistic living. The hotel also includes a fitness center with Technogym equipment and an indoor swimming pool. For events, the property offers over 5,000 square feet of space, including two large rooms, Sakura and Camellia, and three private dining rooms on the 38th floor.
