London's Hottest Restaurant Right Now

Tiella Trattoria in Hackney is being called "one of the hottest restaurants right now" by @hotdinners. Their detailed review garnered 429 views in under 48 hours. London's March "Hot Right Now" list also includes new Soho Italian spots and Hong Kong-inspired Hackney restaurants.

Tiella Trattoria's chef, Dara Klein, was born in Italy and grew up in her family's trattoria in New Zealand, bringing a unique background to her rustic Italian cooking. Before opening her own place, she honed her skills in respected London kitchens like Brawn, Trullo, and Sager & Wilde. The restaurant is a collaboration with Klein's childhood friend, Ry Jessup, who is a co-founder of Homeslice pizza and The Plimsoll. This partnership brings together Klein's acclaimed cooking, previously showcased at a residency at The Compton Arms, with Jessup's front-of-house expertise. Signature dishes that have been praised include the chicken Milanese with a refreshing fennel and apple salad, and a simple-yet-celebrated starter of ricotta with Calabrian chilli and honey. The menu emphasizes high-quality British and Italian seasonal produce, with a focus on heartfelt, traditional dishes. The London dining scene in March also features the much-talked-about Osteria Vibrato in Soho. This spot comes from Charlie Mellor, the founder of the beloved, now-closed Hoxton restaurant The Laughing Heart, and focuses on classic Italian fare alongside a curated list of minimal-intervention wines. Hackney offers a taste of East Asia with Cafe Kowloon, a modern Cantonese restaurant. Tucked away behind Wonton Charlie's, it serves contemporary takes on Hong Kong dishes, with menu items like prawn toast with crispy prawn heads and Iberico secreto char siu. The broader trend of new Italian restaurants includes Forza Wine's new, larger Soho location, bringing its accessible approach to Italian food and natural wine to a central spot. Another notable Hackney opening is Teal by Sally Abé, the acclaimed chef's debut solo project. This intimate British bistro focuses on showcasing the best of British ingredients with a sustainable approach.
