Vermont's Beta Technologies in FAA Air Taxi Program
Vermont-based Beta Technologies was selected for the FAA’s new air taxi pilot programs, positioning VT at the forefront of next-gen aviation.
Beta is one of the companies picked for the FAA's "Beyond Visual Line of Sight" (BVLOS) Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC). This group is helping the FAA create rules for drone operations that go beyond what a pilot can see, which is key for future air taxi services. The company is also working to speed up its development of military cargo drones. Beta's advancements in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft have caught the attention of both civilian and military sectors. Beta's electric aircraft use a distributed electric propulsion system. This involves multiple electric motors and rotors, enhancing safety and control compared to traditional single-engine aircraft.
