Delta Goodrem Repping Australia at Eurovision
Australia has officially selected Delta Goodrem to represent the country at Eurovision 2026. The multi-platinum artist known for powerhouse vocals and uplifting pop anthems is heightening Australian hopes for a strong finish at the iconic contest this spring. She's being positioned as one of the year's most anticipated competitors.
Goodrem's selection marks a return to an internal decision by Australian broadcaster SBS, which has previously used the "Eurovision – Australia Decides" national final to choose its representative. The contest has a strong following in the country, where it typically airs in the early morning due to the time difference. With a career spanning over two decades, Goodrem has achieved nine number-one singles and five number-one albums in Australia, selling over nine million albums globally. Her debut album, "Innocent Eyes," is one of the highest-selling in Australian history, spending a record 29 weeks at number one. While this is her first time competing, Goodrem has connections to the contest, having previously written for 1988 Eurovision winner Céline Dion. She has also had chart success in the United Kingdom, where her debut album reached number two and spawned three top-ten singles. Australia first competed in Eurovision in 2015 and has achieved five top-ten finishes. The country's best-ever result was a second-place finish in 2016 with Dami Im's song "Sound of Silence." The 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Vienna, Austria, at the Wiener Stadthalle. This is the same venue that hosted the competition in 2015, which was the year of Australia's debut performance. The grand final is scheduled for May 16, 2026, with semi-finals taking place on May 12 and 14. Goodrem will perform her self-penned song titled "Eclipse."
