Phemex Exchange Integrates Ondo Finance's Tokenized Assets
Cryptocurrency exchange Phemex has completed the integration of Ondo Finance's full suite of tokenized assets. The move allows Phemex users to access and trade tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) from Ondo's product line. This positions the exchange to capitalize on the growing interest in the RWA sector.
- The specific assets integrated include 14 tokenized blue-chip equities and ETFs, such as NVIDIA (NVDAon), Tesla (TSLAon), Apple (AAPLon), and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPYon), making them available to Phemex's 10 million users. - Ondo's flagship products, separate from the newly listed equities, include USDY (a yield-bearing note backed by U.S. Treasuries) and OUSG (tokenized exposure to a BlackRock short-term U.S. Treasury bond ETF). - This move taps into the rapidly expanding RWA sector, where the value of on-chain tokenized U.S. Treasuries alone has surpassed $10 billion. Major financial institutions like BlackRock and Goldman Sachs are now active participants in the space. - For Solana traders, Ondo Finance is planning an early 2026 rollout of its tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs directly on the Solana blockchain, aiming to leverage the network's high speed and low transaction costs. - Ondo's tokenized equities are structured to provide economic exposure to the underlying stocks, which are held in custody by U.S.-registered broker-dealers, tapping directly into the liquidity of traditional exchanges like the NYSE and NASDAQ. - To support its multi-chain strategy, Ondo is also developing its own purpose-built Layer-1, Ondo Chain, which is designed specifically to handle the issuance and cross-chain transfer of tokenized securities. - The broader RWA market is projected for significant expansion, with some analysts, such as those at Grayscale, forecasting a potential thousandfold increase by 2030.
