Anthropic shifts pricing, updates Claude Code

Anthropic has started charging some business customers more directly for how much they use Claude, replacing flatter pricing as demand strains computing capacity. Anthropic’s product page says Claude Code is designed to handle software work across files rather than act like a simple autocomplete tool. (anthropic.com) On April 14, SiliconANGLE reported that Anthropic added automated “routines” to Claude Code and redesigned its desktop app. The publication said a routine packages a prompt, repositories and connectors so the task can run automatically on Anthropic’s cloud infrastructure. On March 25, the company said users approve 93% of permission prompts in Claude Code, and it introduced an “auto mode” to reduce that review burden. In October 2025, Anthropic said sandboxing cut permission prompts by 84% in internal usage, and in February 2026 it described using 16 agents across nearly 2,000 Claude Code sessions, with about $20,000 in API costs, to build a Rust-based C compiler that could compile Linux 6.9. In August 2025, it said Team and Enterprise customers could buy premium seats that bundled more usage and Claude Code under one subscription. Axios reported on April 6 that Anthropic had blocked some Claude subscriptions from powering third-party agent tools, tying the move to cost, capacity and control over autonomous usage. On April 6, the company said it had expanded its partnership with Google and Broadcom for “multiple gigawatts” of next-generation compute.
