Chiefs Land Super Bowl MVP Walker

Kansas City has signed running back Kenneth Walker III to a three-year, $43.05 million deal after his Super Bowl MVP performance with Seattle. Walker joins Patrick Mahomes to form one of the NFL's most dangerous offensive tandems as the Chiefs aim to sustain their championship window. The move is being called a major coup in what's already a wild free agency period.

Walker's Super Bowl MVP performance was the culmination of a dominant three-game postseason run where he amassed 313 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He became the first running back in 29 years to be named Super Bowl MVP, rushing for 135 yards and adding 26 receiving yards in the championship game. His arrival in Kansas City addresses a clear need for the Chiefs, whose rushing attack ranked in the middle of the pack in 2025 with 1,812 total yards. Their leading rusher, Isiah Pacheco, accounted for 462 of those yards, averaging 3.9 yards per carry with just one touchdown. The move is one of several high-profile transactions in a chaotic start to NFL free agency. Other notable deals include the Miami Dolphins signing quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67.5 million contract and the Indianapolis Colts re-signing wide receiver Alec Pierce to a four-year, $116 million deal. Walker's departure from Seattle marks the end of a successful four-year tenure where he rushed for 3,555 yards and 29 touchdowns after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. His playoff performance, where he averaged over 104 rushing yards per game, was a significant factor in Seattle's championship season.
