Tencent to Showcase AI and Engine Tech at GDC

Tencent Games announced it will hold over 20 sessions at the 2026 Game Developers Conference (GDC). The presentations will focus on the company's advancements in AI, engine technology, and other tools shaping future gaming experiences.

Tencent's GDC showcase will feature "MagicDawn," an AI-driven engine solution designed to enhance visual fidelity through global illumination and advanced occlusion culling. This technology is engineered for compatibility with major industry engines like Unreal Engine, Unity, and Godot, signaling a focus on broad adoption. A key highlight is the "VISVISE" suite, an in-house, AI-powered collection of tools for game creation. This suite automates processes like 3D animation generation, auto-rigging, and the creation of intelligent NPC systems, aiming to let creative teams concentrate more on artistic vision. The company's "Hunyuan" family of AI models is a core component of its strategy, capable of generating complex 3D objects and interactive scenes from simple text prompts. This technology can drastically reduce asset creation time, turning a process that once took weeks into a matter of seconds. Tencent's approach involves a symbiotic relationship between its gaming portfolio and AI development. Data from player interactions and rendered scenes in massively popular games are used to train and evolve its AI models at a significant scale. Beyond in-game applications, Tencent is integrating its AI into established third-party software. A partnership with Maxon will embed the Tencent HY 3D Global AI engine directly into Cinema 4D, allowing artists to generate base 3D models from text or image prompts. One of the scheduled GDC sessions will detail the use of AI agents and 3D generation to redefine game design workflows. This includes using a "design agent" to define features, ground them in the game's lore, and manage multi-step processes for creating quests and content. Presentations will also cover the use of AI in asset production pipelines for major titles like "Honor of Kings," demonstrating how machine learning enhances workflows. Another session focuses on AI-driven 3D game prototyping, covering the generation of core logic, UI elements, and 3D scenes. To ensure fair play, the company will also showcase its Anti-Cheat Expert (ACE) system. This platform utilizes AI to counter the growing threat of sophisticated cheating methods, including those assisted by AI or hardware.
