Bills Trade for DJ Moore
The Buffalo Bills have reached an agreement to acquire star wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears. Moore posted 1,250+ receiving yards last year and will significantly bolster Buffalo's receiving corps. The Bears are also expected to release longtime linebacker Tremaine Edmunds as part of their roster overhaul.
The trade sends wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round selection. This move provides quarterback Josh Allen with a new top target, a significant need for the Bills since trading Stefon Diggs two years ago. Last season, Khalil Shakir led the team with 72 catches for 719 yards. The acquisition of Moore reunites him with new Bills head coach Joe Brady. Brady served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and part of 2021, two of Moore's most productive seasons where he surpassed 1,100 receiving yards each year. As part of the trade, the Bills are making a significant financial commitment to the 28-year-old receiver. Moore's $23.5 million base salary for 2026 is fully guaranteed, and his 2027 salary of the same amount becomes guaranteed next week. Buffalo will also guarantee $15.5 million of his $23.5 million base salary in 2028. For the Chicago Bears, this trade is part of a larger roster and financial reset. Trading Moore clears $16.5 million in salary cap space for the upcoming season. This move, combined with the release of linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and the retirement of center Drew Dalman, will create approximately $44 million in cap space. The release of Tremaine Edmunds, a former Bills first-round pick, saves the Bears an additional $15 million against the cap. Edmunds signed a four-year, $72 million contract with Chicago in 2023, with $50 million guaranteed. After being granted permission to seek a trade, he was ultimately released.
