Chainlink Enables Cross-Chain Tokenized Fund Subscriptions

Chainlink has rolled out its Digital Transfer Agent (DTA) standard, which enables the on-chain subscription and redemption of tokenized funds across multiple blockchains. The new infrastructure supports both on-chain and off-chain settlement, positioning Chainlink as a key data and settlement layer for cross-chain DeFi and Real-World Asset (RWA) products.

- The Digital Transfer Agent (DTA) standard is designed to replace the work of traditional transfer agents, which manually handle record-keeping and trade settlement for the $100+ trillion global asset management industry, with automated smart contracts. - Banking giant UBS is the first major institution to adopt the standard, using it for its tokenized USD money market fund, uMINT, on the Ethereum blockchain to automate the entire fund lifecycle from subscription to redemption. - The system integrates with existing financial infrastructure by using the Chainlink Runtime Environment (CRE) to interpret ISO 20022 messages, the standard used by the SWIFT network, allowing institutions to manage on-chain funds without replacing their legacy systems. - Development of the DTA standard was informed by pilot programs with major financial players, including a project with the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) and ten institutions like BNY Mellon, JPMorgan, and Franklin Templeton to bring Net Asset Value (NAV) data on-chain. - This initiative is part of a broader push into tokenizing Real-World Assets (RWAs), a market segment some analysts predict could reach tens of trillions of dollars by the 2030s. - The DTA framework is built on several core Chainlink services, including its Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to operate across different blockchains and its Data Feeds to provide accurate, real-time fund pricing.
