Renton Resident Dies in Electrical Condo Fire

A resident in Renton died after an electrical fire broke out in their condominium unit. The victim had called 911 from inside the home, but firefighters discovered the individual after they had succumbed to the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.

- The fire broke out around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026, at a condominium complex located in the 1500 block of Union Avenue Northeast. - The victim, described only as a "young adult," was one of the individuals who called 911 to report the fire from inside the unit where the blaze originated. - Fire investigators have determined that the cause of the fatal blaze was an electrical issue. - When fire crews arrived, flames were visible on both floors of the condominium unit. - A neighbor reported that they did not hear any smoke alarms and was only alerted to the danger when firefighters arrived at the scene. - In addition to the victim's unit which was fully involved, three other condo units were affected by the fire, leading to the displacement of several families. - Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including the Renton Regional Fire Authority, Bellevue Fire, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Skyway Fire, and King County Medic One. - Firefighters were able to rescue a cat from one of the affected condos.
