New Music Friday Drops

New music Friday (March 6) is packed with major hip-hop releases — Denzel Curry and The Scythe's *Strictly 4 the Scythe's* featuring Smino, Juicy J, and Luh Tyler, plus Nettspend's *Early Life Crisis* with NBA Youngboy and Osamason. Other drops include new tracks from 50 Cent, Juice WRLD & Marshmello, and Yung Mal.

Denzel Curry's latest project, *Strictly 4 the Scythe's*, marks a collaborative turn, introducing his new creative collective, The Scythe. This new group features a lineup of notable artists including A$AP Ferg, TiaCorine, Bktherula, and Key Nyata. The album is a direct follow-up to Curry's critically acclaimed 2022 solo effort, *Melt My Eyez See Your Future*, which was lauded for its lyrical depth and diverse production. The release of *Early Life Crisis* signals a significant moment for 18-year-old Richmond, Virginia rapper Nettspend, who first gained viral attention in late 2023 with his track "Drankdrankdrank". Following his 2024 debut mixtape, *Bad Ass F*cking Kid*, this new 21-track album is described as a reflection on the pressures and anxieties of a generation growing up in a chaotic world. The project sees him collaborating with mainstream artists like NBA Youngboy and fellow underground rapper Osamason, indicating a move to expand his reach. The new track from the late Juice WRLD and producer Marshmello, titled "We Don't Get Along," continues a successful partnership that previously yielded hits like "Come & Go" and "Hate the Other Side." These prior collaborations were featured on Juice WRLD's first posthumous album, *Legends Never Die*, and both debuted in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. "We Don't Get Along" is another addition to the extensive catalog of unreleased music the rapper left behind following his death in 2019. Atlanta rapper Yung Mal's latest music comes after a steady rise in the trap scene, initially gaining recognition as part of the duo Mal & Quill. This partnership caught the attention of Gucci Mane, who signed them to his 1017 Eskimo Records. Mal's last full-length project was 2021's *1.5 Way or No Way*, which featured artists such as Pooh Shiesty and G Herbo and showcased his evolution as a solo artist. The inclusion of a new 50 Cent track is notable as the rap mogul has largely focused on his lucrative television and business ventures in recent years. While he has released sporadic singles and collaborations, his last official studio album was 2014's *Animal Ambition*. In a 2021 interview, he mentioned shelving his long-delayed album *Street King Immortal* in favor of a new project.
