Ruiner 2 Cyberpunk RPG Announced
Reikon Games just revealed Ruiner 2, a new cyberpunk action RPG for PC and consoles from the makers of the original Ruiner. The announcement trailer promises a return to the franchise's gritty, futuristic action style. This marks the studio's return to the cyberpunk genre that made their reputation.
The original *Ruiner* launched in September 2017 to positive reviews, establishing itself as a cult classic twin-stick shooter. On Steam alone, the game has sold an estimated 478,000 to 654,000 copies, generating over $6 million in revenue. It was the debut title for Warsaw-based developer Reikon Games, founded by veterans from the studios behind *The Witcher* series and *Dying Light*. Since the original's release, Reikon Games has not been idle. In September 2025, the studio released *Metal Eden*, a fast-paced, sci-fi first-person shooter for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, published by Deep Silver. For *Ruiner 2*, however, Reikon Games is handling publishing duties themselves. *Ruiner 2* is making a significant genre shift, moving from the original's twin-stick shooter formula to become a "deep, systems-driven action RPG." A central new feature is the "Shell System," which allows players to control a roster of up to three distinct characters and swap between them instantly during combat. These "Shells" are unlocked by defeating bosses and each features a unique playstyle and four skills with branching upgrade paths. The game also introduces a three-player cooperative mode, allowing a team to use a combined roster of up to six Shells. Reikon Games has also promised an "endless endgame" mode with escalating difficulty and better loot for players who complete the main story.
