SGA Returns, Thunder Top Nuggets

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned from injury and scored 36 points as Oklahoma City outlasted Denver 127-121 in overtime. The win was hard-fought with tempers flaring and momentum swinging throughout the extra period. Thunder continue their surge with their star guard back in the lineup.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander returned to the court after a nine-game absence due to an abdominal strain. The reigning MVP showed no signs of rust, pouring in 18 points in the first half and another 14 in the third quarter alone. The game was a heated affair with multiple technical fouls and shoving matches, reflecting a budding rivalry. The Thunder and Nuggets met in last year's Western Conference semifinals, with Oklahoma City taking the series in a hard-fought seven games. Denver's Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 14 assists. However, his night was marred by a fourth-quarter altercation with Thunder forward Lu Dort, which resulted in Dort's ejection for a Flagrant 2 foul and offsetting technicals for Jokic and Jaylin Williams. Despite Gilgeous-Alexander sitting out the overtime period, the Thunder managed to secure the victory. Jamal Murray, who was questionable with an illness before the game, led the Nuggets in scoring with 39 points. This victory helps the Thunder maintain their position atop the Western Conference standings with a 46-15 record. The Denver Nuggets currently sit in fourth place in the West.
