Bungie's extraction shooter "Marathon" debuted this week, landing second on the Steam Top Sellers chart [https://www.vgchartz.com/article/467253/slay-the-spire-2-beats-marathon-on-the-steam-charts/], with additional runner shell cosmetics coming [https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/bungie-is-adding-more-shell-skins-to-marathons-battle-pass-after-feedback/].

The game's initial announcement at the PlayStation Showcase in May 2023 marked Bungie's return to the Marathon IP after nearly three decades. This revival aims to reimagine the 1994 classic as a PvP extraction shooter. Despite the Steam debut, some players expressed concerns over the game's Runner Pass, particularly regarding the availability of cosmetic items. Bungie responded to this feedback by indicating plans to add more shell skins to the Runner Pass. The original "Marathon" was a trilogy of first-person shooters released in the 1990s for Macintosh computers. It was critically acclaimed for its complex story and innovative gameplay.
