RSD goes social-care

- Community Integrated Care ran a Record Store Day activation offering records, merch, and signed items as prizes. - Prizes included signed items from Mumford & Sons, Royel Otis, Sam Smith, and The Kooks. - The activation shows Record Store Day being used to boost social-care engagement, not just retail sales (communityintegratedcare.co.uk).

Community Integrated Care turned Record Store Day into a social-care event this week, running an online music quiz with vinyl, merchandise and signed prizes for people it supports. (communityintegratedcare.co.uk) The charity said the prizes included signed items from Mumford & Sons, Royel Otis, Sam Smith and The Kooks, with recorded links from Justin Hawkins of The Darkness and support from Riley of The Daydreamers. (communityintegratedcare.co.uk) The session ran on Community Integrated Care’s “What To Do” platform, which offers free accessible activities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people. The site’s April listings include online discos, exercise sessions and themed events. (what-to-do.co.uk) Record Store Day 2026 took place on Saturday, April 18, in its 19th edition, with more than 280 UK shops and thousands worldwide taking part through exclusive releases and in-store events. (recordstoreday.co.uk) That made Community Integrated Care’s version a departure from the usual Record Store Day format: instead of sending people into shops, it used the event’s artists, memorabilia and music trivia inside a care setting. (communityintegratedcare.co.uk) (recordstoreday.co.uk) The charity has been building a wider music program in 2026. In March, it announced a partnership with Liverpool’s Jacaranda Records to collect artist-donated memorabilia and fund music therapy, creative workshops and music-based reminiscence work. (communityintegratedcare.co.uk) (jacarandarecords.com) Community Integrated Care says it is one of the UK’s largest social care charities, supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health concerns and dementia. Charity Today reported last year that the group delivers more than 8 million hours of support. (communityintegratedcare.co.uk) (charitytoday.co.uk) The Record Store Day quiz did not change how the retail event works on April 18. It showed how a format built for independent music shops can also be repurposed as an accessible group activity inside social care. (recordstoreday.co.uk) (communityintegratedcare.co.uk)
