CRUT calls bids for e-bus depots

- CRUT on April 24 invited bids for electrical works at five Odisha e-bus depots under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, according to tender documents. - The tender’s biggest package is 6,000 KVA at Pokhariput, Bhubaneswar, with an estimated cost of 290.58 million rupees and 90-day completion. - Bids are due on May 28 on Odisha’s e-tender portal, with electrical contractors holding valid H.T. licenses eligible to apply.

Capital Region Urban Transport, or CRUT, has gone to market for a new round of depot electrification works tied to India’s PM e-Bus Sewa program in Odisha. A tender notice dated April 24, 2026 seeks bids for five electrical packages covering bus depots in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Berhampur, according to CRUT’s notice and tender page. The works focus on 33 KV power supply lines, substations and transformers needed to energize depots that will support electric bus operations. The bids close on May 28, 2026, the agency said. ### Which depot packages did CRUT put out to tender? The April 24 notice lists five depot sites: Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar, Naraj in Cuttack, Chhend in Rourkela, Modipada in Sambalpur and Haldipadar in Berhampur. Three of those packages — Pokhariput, Naraj and Chhend — call for construction of a 33 KV line and installation of three 2,000 KVA, 33/0.4 KV transformers each. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) The same tender document sets a lower-capacity configuration for the other two depots. Modipada and Haldipadar each require a 33 KV line and two 1,600 KVA, 33/0.4 KV conventional on-load tap-changing substations, with power supply sized at 2,300 KW or 3,200 KVA. ### How large are the contracts and how fast does CRUT want them built? (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) CRUT priced the Pokhariput, Naraj and Chhend packages at 290.58 million rupees each in estimated cost. The tender notice gives each of those three jobs a completion period of 90 days. The Sambalpur and Berhampur packages are smaller. The notice pegs Modipada and Haldipadar at 168.72 million rupees each, with a 60-day completion period. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) ### What exactly is being built at the depots? The technical scope in the notice is narrowly defined around power intake and distribution. Pokhariput, Naraj and Chhend are each designed for a 4,320 KW or 6,000 KVA load at 33 KV supply with HT single-point metering, the document says. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) The wording matters because these are not general civil-works tenders. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) CRUT is asking for electrical contractors with valid high-tension licenses, along with PAN, GSTIN, EPF and ESI registrations current through March 2026, according to the bid conditions. ### How does this fit into the national PM e-Bus Sewa program? (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) The PM e-Bus Sewa scheme covers city bus operations as well as depot and charging infrastructure, according to the scheme website. The program aims to deploy 10,000 electric buses on a public-private partnership model, with total estimated cost of 57,613 crore rupees and central support of 20,000 crore rupees. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) CRUT is the urban transport agency serving Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri under the AMA Bus system. Its website says it has operationalized 300 buses across those three cities, and the tender page now carries the April 29, 2026 listing for “Construction of substation 33/0.4 KV to the different Bus depots under PMe Bus Sewa Scheme.” ### Why do these notices matter beyond a procurement filing? (pm-ebus-sewa.mohua.gov.in) The April 24 document shows the depot build-out moving from broad project announcements to site-specific electrical execution. Each package spells out feeder voltage, transformer count, load requirement, metering arrangement, estimated cost and delivery window, giving contractors a defined scope rather than a generic depot brief. (capitalregiontransport.in) The five-site spread also shows CRUT managing a multi-city rollout rather than a single terminal upgrade. The notice covers locations across coastal and western Odisha, with separate package sizes and timelines depending on the projected depot load. That is visible in the split between the 6,000 KVA sites at Pokhariput, Naraj and Chhend and the 3,200 KVA sites at Modipada and Haldipadar. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) ### What happens next in the bidding process? CRUT’s tender page says the notice was published on April 29, 2026 and closes at 5:30 p.m. on May 28, 2026. The bid document says submissions must be made online through Odisha’s e-tender portal, and bidders must use a Class II or Class III digital signature certificate. The next visible milestone is bid receipt and evaluation by CRUT after May 28. (cms.bhubaneswarone.in) The authority said in the notice that it reserves the right to cancel any or all bids without assigning a reason. (capitalregiontransport.in)
