Bears Trade DJ Moore
The Chicago Bears traded WR DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills in a deal that's being finalized between the franchises. This marks a major offensive shake-up for both teams heading into the new season.
The deal sends wide receiver DJ Moore and a 2026 fifth-round pick to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a 2026 second-round selection. This move provides quarterback Josh Allen with a new primary target, a need for the Bills since trading Stefon Diggs two seasons ago. Moore is also reuniting with Bills head coach Joe Brady, who was his offensive coordinator with the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021. During that time, Moore had some of his most productive seasons, including a career-high 18.1 yards per catch in 2020. Financially, the Bills are making a significant commitment, guaranteeing $15.5 million of Moore's 2028 base salary. His salary for 2026 is already fully guaranteed, and his 2027 salary becomes guaranteed in the new league year. The trade comes after a down year for Moore in 2025, where he recorded career lows in catches (50) and receiving yards (682). This was a significant drop from his 2023 performance, where he had 96 catches for 1,364 yards and nine touchdowns. For the Bears, this move appears to be a strategic shift, creating cap space and signaling a greater reliance on their younger wide receivers like Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III. The emergence of these younger players, along with tight end Colston Loveland, led to a reduced role for Moore. In Buffalo, Moore is expected to be the definitive WR1. He joins a receiving corps that includes Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Joshua Palmer, immediately upgrading a unit that ranked in the bottom ten for receiving yards in 2025.
