Phoenix shops to hit on RSD

Phoenix previews for Record Store Day point collectors to local indie shops such as ZIA, Stinkweeds, Tracks in Wax, and Asylum for exclusives and in‑store activity on April 18 (azcentral.com).

Phoenix-area vinyl buyers will be lining up on Saturday, April 18, for Record Store Day releases at local shops including Zia, Stinkweeds, Tracks In Wax and Asylum. (recordstoreday.com) Record Store Day’s official 2026 list goes on sale at participating independent stores on April 18, and the releases are not sold by Record Store Day itself. Stores order their own stock, which means selection varies from shop to shop. (recordstoreday.com) That store-by-store scramble is the point of the event. Record Store Day says the celebration started in 2008 to drive fans into brick-and-mortar indie shops, and Phoenix stores have been telling customers to check directly for what each location actually received. (recordstoreday.com; northcentralnews.net) Zia Records plans to open all of its locations at 7 a.m. on April 18, with more than 300 Record Store Day releases, exclusive merchandise, a 5% discount for members of its new VIP program, and a buy-three-get-the-fourth-pre-owned-item-free sale running April 18 and 19. The first 50 customers in line at each Zia store will get a giveaway pack, and leftover titles go online on Sunday, April 19, at 5 a.m. Mountain Standard Time and Pacific Standard Time. (ziarecords.com) Stinkweeds in Phoenix says it will start selling Record Store Day exclusives outside in its parking lot at 8 a.m. on April 18, with a one-copy-per-title limit and no preorders or holds. The first 100 people in line get a Stinkweeds goodie bag, and the shop says remaining stock will go online on Sunday, April 19. (stinkweeds.com) Stinkweeds also warned shoppers that there will be no on-site parking that morning and pointed customers to the Camelback Park and Ride and the light rail stop across the street. The store says people usually line up well before opening. (stinkweeds.com) Tracks In Wax enters this year’s event in a different moment for the store itself. Record Store Day’s store page says the Phoenix shop, founded in 1982, is now under new ownership and is participating as part of what owner Joshua Briese called its “next chapter.” (recordstoreday.com) Asylum Records in Chandler says it will also open at 7 a.m. for Record Store Day. Its Record Store Day listing places the shop at 2976 North Alma School Road, near Elliot Road. (recordstoreday.com) Phoenix’s record-store map has shifted since last year. North Central News reported that Candy & Records, which participated in 2025, announced in February that rising rent and inventory costs would close its brick-and-mortar shop by March 2026. (northcentralnews.net) For buyers who miss out in line, Record Store Day says stores may begin selling leftover stock online starting Sunday, April 19. The organization says fans should check store websites and marketplace accounts rather than buy from flippers. (recordstoreday.com)
