CHAI Reports $68M ARR

AI company CHAI announced it has continued a 3x annual growth rate, reaching $68 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). The growth has resulted in a new company valuation of $1.4 billion. The firm noted that with its rapid expansion comes a greater responsibility for AI safety.

- The company's valuation jumped from $205 million in August 2023 and $450 million in January 2024 to the current $1.4 billion. - CHAI was founded in 2020 by William Beauchamp with the goal of creating a platform for AI to bring joy to users. - The platform's user engagement is notably high, with one report indicating that users spend, on average, 196% more time on the CHAI mobile app compared to ChatGPT users. - To foster innovation, CHAI launched the "Guanaco competition," a $1 million prize for engineers to develop the best-performing large language models on their platform. - The company pioneered a technique called "model blending," which ensembles different large language models to enhance user retention and engagement. - As of early 2025, CHAI reported having over 1 million daily active users. - The firm's AI Safety Framework is built on three core principles: Content Safeguarding, Stability and Robustness, and Operational Transparency and Traceability. - CHAI's safety measures include a moderation system to filter content and a real-time classifier to detect conversations that may indicate a risk of suicide or self-harm.
