Navarrete Unifies Super-Featherweight Titles

Emanuel Navarrete stopped Eduardo Nunez in the 11th round to unify the IBF and WBO super-featherweight titles. Navarrete's relentless attack closed Nunez's eye and forced a doctor stoppage, cementing his status as one of boxing's elite. The Mexican fighter now holds unified control at 130 pounds after a dominant performance.

This all-Mexican championship clash took place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The victory improves Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete's professional record to 40 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, with 33 of those wins coming by way of knockout. For Eduardo "Sugar" Nunez, this was only the second loss of his professional career, bringing his record to 29-2. The stoppage was ordered by the ringside doctor at the beginning of the 11th round due to a severe injury to Nunez's right eye that rendered him unable to continue. Navarrete, at 31 years old, has held world titles in three different weight classes, previously reigning as a champion at super-bantamweight and featherweight. His awkward, high-volume punching style has proven difficult for opponents to solve throughout his career. With the WBO and IBF belts now unified, the other champions at the 130-pound super-featherweight limit are O'Shaquie Foster (WBC) and Jazza Dickens (WBA). A future unification bout with Foster, who was ringside for the fight, is a strong possibility for Navarrete's next move.
