NFL Offseason Heats Up with Eagles Activity

The NFL offseason is in full swing, with the Philadelphia Eagles active in free agency and draft strategy. They've acquired CB Riq Wollen, TE Johnny Mundt, and CB Jonathan Jones, and have compensatory draft picks to address roster needs. The broader NFL is seeing rapid movement in free agency and trade rumors.

The Eagles' acquisition of cornerback Riq Woolen from the Seattle Seahawks involved sending a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to Seattle. Woolen, a third-team All-Pro in 2022, had a less impactful 2023 season, leading to speculation about his fit in Seattle's defensive scheme under new head coach Mike Macdonald. He is expected to compete for a starting role in Philadelphia alongside Darius Slay and James Bradberry. Tight end Johnny Mundt signed a one-year deal with the Eagles after spending the previous two seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. He's known primarily for his blocking ability and special teams contributions, adding depth behind Dallas Goedert. Mundt's contract includes a base salary of $1.2 million, with incentives that could increase the total value. Jonathan Jones, another cornerback signing, comes to Philadelphia after a stint with the Denver Broncos. He signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with $1.8 million guaranteed. Jones is expected to compete for the nickel cornerback role and contribute on special teams.
