Neil Diamond Tribute Show in Fort Lauderdale

The tribute show "So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience" is scheduled to perform in Fort Lauderdale tonight, February 28. The event will be held at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, offering a local entertainment option for residents and visitors.

The show's frontman is not just a singer, but a seasoned actor named Robert Neary. With over 35 years of experience, Neary has a history of roles on Broadway, including "Smokey Joe's Café" and Elton John's "Aida," in addition to over 60 guest-starring roles in television shows like "Grey's Anatomy" and "Criminal Minds." "So Good! The Neil Diamond Experience" was created by Neary in 2019 and features New York's premier band, The Mystic. The two-hour show is a multimedia production that includes stories behind the 20+ classic songs, trivia, and a finale described as "pure Broadway caliber." The performance has been filmed as a documentary feature and is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The tribute band industry has become a significant part of the live entertainment economy. There are over 15,000 active tribute acts performing worldwide, and in the United States alone, they sell an estimated 1.7 million tickets annually. For local venues, these acts can be more profitable and less risky than booking original artists, sometimes earning 85% more per concert in a 1,000-seat venue. The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is a major cultural institution, ranking among the top ten most-visited theaters in the world. It hosts over 700 performances for more than 700,000 patrons each year. The center, which first opened on February 26, 1991, with a performance of "The Phantom of the Opera," was built as a public/private partnership to anchor the city's cultural district. The main performance space within the center is the 2,658-seat Au-Rene Theater. This multipurpose venue was designed to host large-scale productions such as touring Broadway shows, operas, and ballets. The entire complex, built for $54 million, also includes the smaller 584-seat Amaturo Theater and the flexible Abdo New River Room.
