Tech Mahindra Taps Nvidia for AI Telco Ops
Tech Mahindra is collaborating with NVIDIA to develop an AI-powered platform for telecommunications network operations. The goal is to create autonomous systems that can manage complex networks for Communications Service Providers (CSPs) globally.
The collaboration leverages NVIDIA's AI Enterprise software, including NeMo for building custom language models and NIM microservices for deploying them. Tech Mahindra is integrating this tech into its `netOps.ai` platform to create a specialized Multi-Modal Network Operations Large Model trained on vast network datasets. The push for this technology stems from the soaring complexity and data demands of 5G networks, which make manual management inefficient and costly. The ultimate goal is to achieve Level 4 autonomy, creating "zero-touch" or self-healing networks that can predict, identify, and resolve issues without human intervention. A core component is the creation of a "network digital twin," a dynamic virtual replica of the entire physical and logical network. This allows AI agents to run simulations, perform root-cause analysis on past events, and reason through problems, moving from simple automation to autonomous decision-making. This technology is already being deployed in the real world. O2 Telefónica in Germany is using a Large Telco Model from this partnership to power its Service Experience Center. The system integrates network telemetry, support tickets, and service data into a unified AI fabric to speed up issue resolution. This initiative is part of a larger industry trend preparing for 6G. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has stated that telecommunications is the next industry to be reshaped by AI, transforming telecom networks into "AI infrastructure everywhere." This AI-native approach is seen as foundational for a future where networks connect billions of autonomous machines and robots.
