OpenAI has started rolling out workspace agents in ChatGPT, letting teams build shared assistants that keep working across business software. (openai.com) OpenAI said on April 22 that the agents are powered by Codex, run in the cloud, and can be shared inside an organization for tasks like drafting reports, writing code, and responding to messages. They are available in research preview for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu, and Teachers plans. (openai.com) The new agents can be used in ChatGPT or Slack, and OpenAI said they operate within company-set permissions and controls. OpenAI also said teams will be able to convert existing GPTs into workspace agents, while GPTs remain available during testing. (openai.com) The product is aimed at work that spans multiple people and systems, not just one-off prompts. OpenAI said the agents can gather context from connected tools, follow team processes, ask for approval, and keep tasks moving across apps. (openai.com) OpenAI’s examples show the pitch to companies: a software review agent that routes approvals and opens information technology tickets, a product feedback agent that pulls signals from Slack and support channels, and a lead outreach agent that updates customer relationship management records. (openai.com) OpenAI paired the launch with services partners that already sell and run technology projects for large companies. On April 22, Infosys said it would combine OpenAI technology with its Topaz Fabric platform, starting with software engineering, legacy modernization, DevOps automation, and e-commerce. (infosys.com) Cognizant announced a similar tie-up on April 21, saying it had been chosen by OpenAI as one of a select group of partners to scale Codex for enterprise clients. Cognizant said its engineers are already using Codex for code generation, refactoring, testing, documentation, and legacy system modernization. (news.cognizant.com) TechCrunch reported that OpenAI is also building a wider deployment network around Codex Labs, with partners including Accenture, Capgemini, CGI, Cognizant, Infosys, PwC, and Tata Consultancy Services. The report said OpenAI disclosed no financial terms for the Infosys deal. (techcrunch.com) The immediate test is whether companies trust these agents with real workflows, not just demos. OpenAI is selling them as shared office software with admin controls, partner support, and a path from experimental GPTs to tools that sit inside everyday systems. (openai.com)
