Gott's Roadside Opens First Los Angeles Location
Gott's Roadside, the popular Napa Valley-based burger and shake restaurant, has expanded into Southern California. The brand's first Los Angeles location is now open at The Original Farmers Market.
- The restaurant was originally founded in St. Helena in 1949 as Taylor's Refresher; brothers Joel and Duncan Gott took over the roadside stand in 1999 and renamed it Gott's Roadside in 2010 after a trademark dispute with the original owner's family. - In 2006, while still named Taylor's Refresher, the restaurant received a James Beard Foundation Award, designating it as an "America's Classic." - While known for burgers, the menu also features upscale casual fare like Ahi Poke Crispy Tacos and a Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich, alongside a California-centric list of wines and beers. - The brand has eight other locations in Northern California, including outposts in iconic food destinations like San Francisco's Ferry Building and Napa's Oxbow Public Market. - The Farmers Market restaurant is the first of two planned Southern California locations; a second will open in Santa Monica in 2026 in a 6,600-square-foot space formerly occupied by Osteria. - A unique feature of the new Farmers Market location will be a dedicated soft-serve window.
