Thayer Public Library Services Disrupted

- Thayer Public Library will have service outages Monday, April 27 through Wednesday, April 29. - Some online and in-person services, including book holds and returns, will be unavailable during that period. - Patrons are advised to plan accordingly and check for updates on the library's notice (patch.com).

Thayer Public Library in Braintree says several core services will go offline for three days next week as its regional network switches to a new catalog system. (braintreema.gov) The disruption is scheduled for Monday, April 27, through Wednesday, April 29, ahead of the Old Colony Library Network’s new catalog launch on April 30. Thayer said the building will stay open on its normal schedule during the changeover. (braintreema.gov) The library said patrons will still be able to borrow items and pick up holds already waiting at the building, but they must bring a physical library card or digital card to check out materials. Staff will not be able to search the catalog, look up accounts, process payments, or make account changes during the outage. (braintreema.gov) Thayer’s own catalog notice says searching the catalog, placing new holds, renewing items, getting a new card, updating an existing card, and making payments or bill adjustments will all be unavailable from April 27 to April 29. Programs, meetings, and events are still set to run as scheduled. (thayerpubliclibrary.org) The change reaches beyond one building because Thayer is part of the Old Colony Library Network, the shared system that powers catalog access for member libraries. Thayer’s online catalog page says the network will be offline from April 27 to April 29 during the migration. (thayerpubliclibrary.org, (catalog.ocln.org)) For regular users, the practical effect is that routine desk transactions will slow down even though the doors stay open. Thayer lists its hours next week as 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. (braintreema.gov, thayerpubliclibrary.org) Thayer Public Library serves the Town of Braintree from 798 Washington Street, and its website directs patrons to check library notices for updates as the April 30 catalog launch approaches.
