DaVinci Resolve Boosted by New Hardware
DaVinci Resolve's neural engine sees major performance gains on the latest Apple M5 Max chips and Thunderbolt 5 PCMag, speeding up color grading and upscaling workflows.
The M5 Max chip significantly cuts down rendering times, with up to 5.4x faster video effects rendering in DaVinci Resolve Studio compared to the M1 Max. This means less waiting and more creating for video editors. The new MacBook Pro's Thunderbolt 5 ports offer transfer speeds up to 120Gbps, improving connectivity with RAID storage arrays and external drives. This is a major boon for handling large video files and maintaining smooth 8K workflows. DaVinci Resolve has integrated AI-powered tools that are accelerated by the M5 Max's Neural Engine. Features like facial recognition, object removal, and smart reframing benefit from this AI boost. The latest DaVinci Resolve update supports up to 32K resolution on Apple M5 Macs. This allows for editing and grading at extremely high resolutions, though the practical need for 32K is still limited. Beyond hardware enhancements, DaVinci Resolve 20 includes AI-driven features like IntelliScript for generating timelines from scripts and AI Audio Assistant for automatic audio mixing.
