Wingstop Drops Giant Ranch Cup
Wingstop is celebrating National Ranch Day (March 10) with a limited-edition 32 oz. "Big A$$ Ranch Cup" — only 500 available in New York City and Dallas. Burger King also teases a March 31 launch of the Peppercorn BLT Whopper and Watermelon Lemonade nationwide.
The celebration of National Ranch Day on March 10th honors a uniquely American condiment invented by Steve Henson in the 1950s. Henson first developed the dressing recipe while working as a contractor in Alaska before serving it to guests at his Hidden Valley Ranch in California. Wingstop's 32 oz. stainless steel cup is priced at $30 and is individually numbered, making it a collectible item. The size is double that of the chain's previous largest ranch option and holds the equivalent of more than twenty standard pizza dipping cups. The promotion taps into a broader fast-food strategy of using Limited-Time Offers (LTOs) to generate excitement and urgency. Restaurant chains have been increasing their use of LTOs, with launches up 19% year-over-year, as they find consumers are more willing to try new and unique flavors. Burger King's Peppercorn BLT Whopper is a new take on its classic burger, which has been its flagship product since 1957. The standard Whopper consists of a flame-grilled beef patty, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and onions on a sesame seed bun. The Watermelon Lemonade appears to be a variation of a previous seasonal offering. Burger King has previously sold a Strawberry Watermelon Lemonade, described as a blend of sweet strawberry, watermelon, and tangy lemon flavors.
