Olivia Dean Sweeps Brit Awards
Olivia Dean made history at the 2026 Brit Awards, winning all four categories she was nominated for — British Album, British Artist, British Song, and Best New Artist. The unprecedented sweep crowned her the new "UK queen of pop" at the ceremony held in Manchester for the first time. Her rise marks a generational shift in UK pop music.
Dean's victorious album, "The Art of Loving," is her second studio LP, released on September 26, 2025. The album, which explores love in its various forms, was praised by critics for its blend of pop, R&B, neo-soul, and jazz. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums chart and also marked her first appearance on the Billboard 200 in the US. The award-winning "Rein Me In" is a collaboration with singer-songwriter Sam Fender, who also took home the award for Best Alternative/Rock Act. The duet is a reworked version of a song from Fender's album "People Watching," with Dean contributing a new verse from a female perspective. Their joint track beat out another of Dean's own hit singles, "Man I Need," in the Song of the Year category. This year's ceremony was a historic one, marking the first time in the Brit Awards' nearly 50-year history that the event was held outside of London. The show took place at the new Co-op Live arena in Manchester, a move intended to recognize the UK's broad geographical diversity of musical talent. The city embraced the awards with a week of fringe events and special shows. While Dean's sweep of her four nominated categories was a dominant performance, it follows record-breaking years for other female artists. In 2024, RAYE took home a staggering six Brit Awards in one night. Just last year, in 2025, Charli xcx won five awards. Fresh off her Grammy win for Best New Artist and this historic BRITs sweep, Dean is set to embark on a major headlining tour. "The Art of Loving Live" tour is scheduled to begin in the UK in April 2026 before heading to Europe, North America, and Australia later in the year.
