TECNO Unveils AI-Powered Phones at MWC
TECNO is set to debut its new flagship CAMON 50 smartphone series at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The company announced the new phones will be headlined by advanced imaging and AI capabilities. The launch will also feature a broader AI product ecosystem, signaling the brand's focus on integrating artificial intelligence across its device lineup.
TECNO's MWC announcements build on a strategy focused on "Practical AI," aiming to deliver useful and accessible features for emerging markets. In 2025, TECNO's AI processed over 500 million user requests, with a significant portion being image-related and in non-English languages, demonstrating the demand for localized AI solutions. The upcoming CAMON 50 series will feature flagship Sony hardware combined with a dedicated AI computing architecture. New AI-powered features include "Super-Zoom FlashSnap" for capturing high-speed action with no shutter lag and "AI Auto Zoom," which intelligently frames subjects. Beyond just camera enhancements, the CAMON 50 is being positioned as a "Creative AI Hub." This includes an "AI Art Gallery" that can transform photos into digital art and a productivity tool called "One-Tap FlashMemo." The phones will also deeply integrate TECNO's upgraded Ella AI assistant. The Ella AI assistant itself is becoming more context-aware. New capabilities include summarizing YouTube videos, reading and replying to WhatsApp messages, and integrating with a "Dynamic Island" style interface to offer task suggestions. TECNO has also focused on language localization, becoming the first to integrate Hausa and improving recognition for African-accented English and French. The broader AI ecosystem includes more than just phones. TECNO is showcasing its MEGABOOK laptop portfolio, AI-enhanced smart wearables, and an upgraded cross-device platform called OneLeap for better connectivity between its products. This focus on an interconnected ecosystem is part of TECNO's strategy to move upmarket. The company, under its parent Transsion Holdings, holds a dominant 48% market share in Africa and is a top player in other emerging markets. At MWC 2026, TECNO will also unveil a partnership with Tonino Lamborghini. The collaboration will result in co-created devices, including a gaming mini-PC and a limited edition POVA smartphone, blending high-performance technology with iconic design elements.
