Ngannou's return marks his first MMA fight since October 2024, when he defeated Renan Ferreira in his sole PFL appearance, earning a reported $47,000 per second of cage time. He was released from his PFL contract just days before the Netflix announcement. The fight against Lins will be a professionally sanctioned heavyweight bout contested over five, five-minute rounds. The May 16 card is Most Valuable Promotions' (MVP) first foray into MMA, after making waves in boxing. Ngannou has stated that his MVP deal brings him closer to a potential fight with Jake Paul. It's unclear if Ngannou has joined MVP's stable or if this is a one-fight deal. Philipe Lins, a Brazilian fighter, is a former PFL Heavyweight Champion, winning the million-dollar grand prize in 2018.
