FuriosaAI and Helikai to Build AI Stack for Regulated Industries
AI semiconductor firm FuriosaAI and Micro-AI agent company Helikai have announced a strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to deliver a secure, production-ready enterprise AI automation stack specifically designed for regulated and precision-critical industries like healthcare and finance.
- FuriosaAI, a South Korean AI semiconductor startup, achieved unicorn status after a Series C bridge funding round of approximately $123 million, bringing its valuation to over $770 million. Key investors include state-backed institutions like Korea Development Bank and Industrial Bank of Korea, as well as firms like Keistone Partners and Kakao Investment. - The company’s flagship product is a high-performance AI inference chip named RNGD (pronounced "Renegade"), built on TSMC's 5nm process. The chip is designed around a "Tensor Contraction Processor" architecture, which is optimized for efficiency and parallelism, offering a compelling alternative to power-intensive GPUs. - Helikai, founded by industry veterans Ross Fujii and Jamie Lerner, specializes in "Micro-AI agents" called Helibots. These are pre-built, reusable AI agents trained on proprietary customer data for specific, single-step business tasks in verticals like life sciences and legal services. - Helikai's platform is designed for security and data sovereignty, offering on-premise deployment options where models can run without internet connectivity. This addresses a primary concern for regulated industries by allowing them to leverage AI while maintaining control over sensitive data. - The partnership aims to combine FuriosaAI's energy-efficient hardware with Helikai's auditable, "atomic" AI agents to create a full stack for automating high-stakes workflows. This is critical for regulated fields where decisions require transparency and explainability, a challenge for traditional "black box" AI systems. - Use cases in target industries include automating revenue cycle management and clinical documentation in healthcare, and managing risk assessment and compliance in finance. The goal is to move beyond informational AI (like chatbots) to "Agentic AI" that can autonomously execute complex, multi-step tasks. - FuriosaAI has already gained traction with major players, including a partnership with LG AI Research to power its EXAONE large language model. Helikai offers a catalog of over 200 pre-built agents (Helibots) to accelerate enterprise adoption.
