Harry Styles Crashes SNL
Harry Styles surprised audiences by crashing Ryan Gosling's SNL opening monologue on the March 7 episode. Multiple outlets highlighted how he upstaged the host, with Styles set to host SNL next week. The surprise appearance injected humor and star power into Gosling's segment.
This marked Ryan Gosling's fourth time hosting the late-night sketch show. His previous hosting gigs were in December 2015, September 2017, and April 2024. The March 7, 2026 episode featured Gorillaz as the musical guest, making their SNL debut. Harry Styles is scheduled to pull double duty as both host and musical guest on the following week's episode, March 14, 2026. This will be his second time taking on both roles simultaneously, having previously done so in November 2019. Styles' appearance was part of a comedic bit where Gosling was flustered by the pop star's "coolness" in the audience. The joke escalated to a split-screen shot and a camera operator being revealed to wear an "I <3 Harry" t-shirt. During the monologue, Gosling jokingly attempted to sing Styles' 2017 hit "Sign of the Times." Styles could be seen miming along from his seat in the audience. This upcoming appearance will be Styles' third time as a solo musical guest and his sixth musical guest stint overall, including his performances with One Direction. The band appeared on the show in 2012, 2013, and 2014. Styles' hosting gig on March 14 is in support of his fourth solo album, "Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.," which was released on March 6, 2026.
