Aon Unifies Reinsurance Analytics Leadership
Aon has expanded George Attard's remit to Global Head of Analytics for its Reinsurance Solutions unit, consolidating the function. The move signals a clear trend among major brokers to integrate analytics across underwriting, claims, and capital management, breaking down traditional data silos.
This promotion marks a significant concentration of authority for George Attard, who was just named Global Head of Strategy for Reinsurance in July 2025. He now holds dual roles, pairing strategic oversight with direct leadership of Aon's vast reinsurance data and analytics capabilities. Attard's expanded remit places him in charge of a global team of more than 1,000 analytics specialists. The move is designed to accelerate the use of Aon's recent tech investments, including its Risk Analytics Platform launched in 2025, which provides clients with a single interface for hazard, exposure, and loss data. The appointment is a key step in Aon's broader "Risk Capital" strategy, which aims to deliver integrated solutions across its Commercial Risk and Reinsurance divisions. This structure is designed to help insurers more effectively manage complex risks and optimize capital deployment, a key focus for CEO of Global Solutions, Andy Marcell. This push for integration comes as many reinsurance firms still struggle with legacy systems and fragmented data, with a recent Aon study describing many as "spreadsheet nations." Advanced data and analytics are increasingly seen as essential for superior risk selection and portfolio management in the face of climate change and market volatility. Aon's consolidation of its analytics leadership mirrors moves by its chief competitors, including Marsh McLennan and Willis Towers Watson, who are also investing heavily in data-driven platforms. The industry-wide shift uses advanced analytics and AI to improve the speed and accuracy of underwriting and claims handling.
