Mountain City Builder Hits 1.0

After two years in early access, the mountain city builder Laysara: Summit Kingdom hit its full 1.0 release on Steam, launching to 1,000+ positive reviews and a 50% launch discount. The game is also now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch, marking a big milestone for its indie creators.

The 1.0 release of *Laysara: Summit Kingdom* on February 27, 2026, introduced a full 15-mission story campaign for the first time, a major addition after its early access period which began in April 2024. This new mode provides a structured path for players, contrasting with the existing sandbox and challenge modes. Developed by the micro-indie studio Quite OK Games, the game is a pure economic strategy and resource management simulator. Unlike many city builders, it features no combat or military elements; the primary antagonist is the mountain environment itself, with challenges like avalanches that can devastate settlements. Gameplay revolves around the concept of verticality, forcing players to build settlements on steep mountainsides. This creates unique logistical puzzles for establishing production chains and transportation networks, which can involve complex roads, bridges, and vertical shafts to move goods between elevations. Players must also manage the needs of a three-caste society. To overcome the challenges of a single mountain's limited resources, players are encouraged to establish and manage trade networks between multiple towns on different peaks. Each mountain offers a different layout, climate, and resource distribution, adding a layer of strategic planning to the interconnected economy. The journey to the 1.0 release included several major content updates during early access. One significant update, the "Tunnels Update," introduced a new end-game transportation method for moving large quantities of resources over long distances with a fixed cost, adding another strategic layer to late-game logistics. The full release was handled by different publishers for various platforms. Future Friends Games published the title on Steam, while Czech-based publisher and co-developer Nejcraft managed the console launch and the release of physical standard and collector's editions for PlayStation 5 and Switch. The collector's edition includes a design book, soundtrack, and a collectible yak figure.
