Cowboys eye defensive upgrades in NFL draft
The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly considering trading up in the NFL draft for pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr., prioritizing defensive upgrades reported.
Dallas may be looking to the draft to fix their defensive woes from last season, where they ranked near the bottom of the league in total defense. The Cowboys have two first-round picks, giving them flexibility to significantly improve their defense. Rueben Bain Jr. is considered a top edge rusher prospect, but his short arm length measured at the NFL combine could cause him to fall in the draft. Some analysts believe that if Bain is available at pick 12, the Cowboys shouldn't pass on him. Other defensive players the Cowboys could target in the first round include Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, and Clemson edge rusher T.J. Parker. The draft is deep with edge rushers, so the Cowboys could address other needs with their first pick and still find pass-rushing help later.
