Cognizant and Google Cloud Expand AI Partnership

Cognizant announced an expanded partnership with Google Cloud on February 16 to help enterprises deploy governed, agentic AI systems at scale. The collaboration will leverage Cognizant's AI builder approach and proprietary tools built on Google Cloud's platform.

- This expanded partnership designates Cognizant as a key strategic partner for Google Cloud's agentic AI technologies, building on a six-year collaboration. Cognizant will not only deploy Google Workspace with Gemini Enterprise internally but also offer it to clients to automate workflows. - Agentic AI systems are designed to be autonomous, capable of planning, acting, and adapting to achieve complex goals with minimal human input, distinguishing them from more passive AI assistants. Gartner predicts that by 2028, 33% of enterprise software will incorporate agentic AI, a significant increase from less than 1% in 2024. - For GovTech, this means moving beyond simple chatbots to AI agents that can manage complex, multi-step processes. European public services are already using AI for tasks like traffic management in Verona, Italy, and providing a single conversational interface for public services in Estonia. - The collaboration will leverage Google Cloud's Vertex AI Agent Builder, a platform designed to help developers create and deploy enterprise-grade AI agents with minimal code. This is part of Google's broader strategy to support the public sector's adoption of generative AI, including programs like the "#100DaysOfAgents" for government leaders. - Cognizant is establishing a dedicated Gemini Enterprise Center of Excellence and using its own no-code tools, like the Cognizant Agent Foundry, to scale the deployment of these AI agents for clients. This builds on their existing AI solutions which have been applied to develop a virtual AI clinician with 98% diagnostic accuracy for a national health authority. - Cognizant has been actively acquiring companies to bolster its AI and cloud capabilities, including the planned acquisition of 3Cloud, a major Microsoft Azure services provider, to enhance its enterprise AI offerings. This strategy aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for AI-driven business transformation. - A key challenge in the public sector's adoption of AI is the slow adaptation of existing work processes and legacy IT systems. Successful implementation requires involving end-users early in the development and investing in organizational capital alongside the technology. - To ensure responsible AI deployment, Cognizant is the first IT services provider to achieve ISO 42001:2023 certification, the world's first AI management system standard, which provides a framework for managing the risks and opportunities of AI.
