Systemic War Demo Shows Grand Strategy

Play of Battle shared progress on Systemic War demo, blending grand strategy with RTS battles. The developers are polling players on balancing tanks versus public sentiment and economy under threat, with the Steam wishlist now live and drawing 11 likes from strategy game fans.

Developed by the Polish studio Play of Battle SA, Systemic War aims to simulate modern conflict from 2008 to 2025. The game is slated for a Q4 2026 release and will feature unique content for nations including the USA, China, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Turkey. The game's design is guided by acclaimed geopolitical expert Dr. Jacek Bartosiak to ensure a realistic portrayal of international relations. Players will manage their nation's diplomacy, information, military, and economy in a model that includes fluctuating currency exchange rates and the use of hybrid warfare. Conflict in Systemic War is designed to escalate gradually, moving from subtle pressure to open war, with every decision impacting the international community's support. Overly aggressive actions against a nuclear power can risk global atomic annihilation, resulting in a game over. When diplomacy fails, the conflict transitions to real-time strategy battles on over 25 handcrafted maps based on real-world locations such as Warsaw, Aleppo, Taiwan, and Guam. Players can command more than 150 unique military units, including infantry, tanks, drones, and electronic warfare assets. A publicly available demo offered a glimpse into an alternate 2022 scenario where players, as Poland, had to fend off a Russian invasion following the fall of Kyiv. This demo showcased the game's blend of grand strategy decisions with tactical RTS combat.
