MLB Debuts Automated Umping

MLB's automated ball-strike (ABS) challenge system debuted at select spring training games.

The challenge system is making its debut at Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Arizona. It's also being used at other spring training facilities. Players can challenge ball and strike calls made by the home plate umpire. If the challenge is successful, the call is overturned. The automated system uses technology to determine whether a pitch is a ball or a strike. This technology aims to improve the accuracy of calls during games.
