Major League Volleyball Gets First Commissioner

Major League Volleyball has appointed Jaime Weston as its first-ever Commissioner. The move comes as the professional women's volleyball league enters its third season, signaling a new phase of growth and professionalization for the sport in the U.S.

Jaime Weston's extensive background includes over 15 years as a marketing executive with the NFL and a recent position as the Chief Commercial Officer for USA Volleyball. Her experience also extends to the entertainment industry, where she served as the Executive Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing for Universal Music Group. The appointment of a commissioner signals a strategic move toward centralized leadership for Major League Volleyball. This comes after the league's merger with the Pro Volleyball Federation in August 2025 and has already seen total attendance surpass one million fans. Currently in its third season, the league has a national footprint with eight teams located in top 45 media markets. Ownership groups are now comprised of experienced operators from other professional leagues, indicating a shift from speculative investment to more institutional ownership. Looking ahead, Major League Volleyball is set for expansion with three new franchises planned for 2027 in Minnesota, Sacramento, and D.C., which will bring the league to a total of 11 teams. To increase its visibility, the league has secured a broadcast slate that includes CBS, Roku, Vice, and Ion. Weston has emphasized her first-year focus will be on delivering a quality on-court and broadcast product to build local fan bases. A key part of Weston's strategy is to strengthen the connection between the collegiate and professional levels of the sport. She has stated, "This is a league built on the college athlete." Weston's philosophy is centered on the idea that "Fandom is not expected. You have to earn it." This approach will be crucial as she works to grow the league's audience and compete for consumers' time and attention.
